Are you one of the 1 in 10 people worldwide that suffer from lower back pain?

Do you get aching, dull pain in the lower back?

How about pain that gets worse when you are sitting for too long?

Difficulty standing up straight or walking?

Or can you no longer enjoy the things that you used to love doing because of your back pain?

You may also be one of the many people who have sought treatment for their back pain but have not had any luck with treating it.

Some even try multiple health practitioners and are still unable to find a suitable or long term solution for their lower back pain.

Because there are so many different factors for acute and chronic back pain, as well as the various symptoms, it is really important to consider a holistic approach (just like we do) to get your back pain under control.

What is contributing to your lower back pain?

We don’t just want to focus on the affected area in the back, we want to find and treat the underlying cause of your pain (that may not even originate in your back).

Here are some of the things that could be contributing to your back pain:

Sitting for long periods of time

You are not just putting pressure on your spine with your posture,

the sitting position can also shorten your hamstrings and pull on your glutes (the big muscle in your

lower back, thighs and hips) which can contribute to lower back pain.

Muscle instability and weakness around the lower back.

This would require targeted action to release and strengthen the specific weakened muscles of the lower back and surrounding areas.

Muscles not being used correctly.

Each muscle has a function and over time we can change the behaviour of that muscle for better or for worse.

One such example is when we pick things up from the ground; as a child we perform a perfect squatting position to reach the ground, but we unlearn this technique as we grow older in favour for the ‘easier’ bending at the back method.

Prioritising these movements drastically change the way the muscles work, and this is just one example! There can be countless other muscles that may be working differently or not as good as they could be!

Normal daily activities could also be doing you harm without you even knowing.

Some movements or repetitive actions could be causing the issue and you may not even be aware of it. Some things seemingly very unrelated to back pain can have a knock on effect in the body and eventually result in lower back pain.

Sounds pretty complex, right?

That’s why we need to fully assess you to find and treat the correct cause of your pain.

We don’t want you to come in with back pain from hamstring tightness and give you a generic lower back treatment that targets the area of instability and not your specific weaknesses and condition.

We ensure that our treatments are specifically tailored to your unique symptoms and lifestyle to get the best treatment and, ultimately, success for you.
