Following Your Dream
Following your dream doesn’t always come easy to people. There can be so much self-doubt and uncertainty of the unknown that people stay in their safe and comfortable life.
Following your dream and deciding to make a big change in your life can be the scariest but also the most rewarding thing you could do.
“Love what you do and do what you love. Don’t listen to anyone else who tells you not to do it. You do what you want, what you love. Imagination should be the center of your life.”
― Ray Bradbury
“Leaving what feels secure behind and following the beckoning of our hearts doesn’t always end as we expect or hope. We may even fail. But here’s the payoff: it can also be amazing and wonderful and immensely satisfying.”
― Steve Goodier
Way back to my early 20s I always wanted to have my own business and thought I would own my own gym but life has taken me on a different journey and now I have my own massage business and in the future an amazing wellness centre focusing on natural health and wellbeing.
My path leading me to my own business hasn’t been an easy one but it’s been worth it. Like Mofffat Machingura said ‘Follow your dreams. I am not saying it’s going to be easy, but I am saying it’s going to be worth it’.
It took a complete breakdown and suffering from depression to reevaluate what I was doing in my life. Something had to change and I made the decision to take the jump and follow my dream, helping people in their health and wellbeing journey.
Now I am a person that struggles to ask for help, very independent and have that attitude of ‘I can do this myself I don’t need help’. That can be positive in one way, making me very strong and determined but I realized that to have a successful business and to reach my dream I would need that help and guidance.
I hired business coaches and this is where it all started to change. My confidence, structure and knowledge has grown substantially over the last year and I don’t regret asking for help at all. The friendships I have made with other massage therapists that are running their own businesses is amazing and having like minded people in your squad makes running a business not so lonely and of course FUN!
Why You Should Follow Your Dream
This year has been a year of struggle, with great change and challenges but I know I will achieve what I deeply and truly want. I believe in myself and what I can achieve, this is what you need to follow your dream. If you can’t honestly say that what you are doing inspires and scares you, then you probably aren’t working towards something you truly desire.
Sometimes you just have that courage, take that jump, surround yourself with people who believe in you but most importantly believe in yourself.
“If you can’t believe in miracles, then believe in yourself. When you want something bad enough, let that drive push you to make it happen. Sometimes you’ll run into brick walls that are put there to test you. Find a way around them and stay focused on your dream. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
― Isabel Lopez, Isabel’s Hand-Me-Down Dreams
If you’re not following your dream this is the time to make the change, I believe in YOU!
