You’re more than a number on a scale
Why are we so obsessed with what the scales say?
Time and time again I see peoples self confidence fade as they step onto those scales and see they haven’t reached the ‘suggested’ healthy weight or the weight they want to get too. I cant tell you the last time I stepped on the scales, even if I did it wouldn’t have any effect on me. We need to focus on if we are fit and healthy. This can be a reason why people are up and down with their ‘weight’ and in and out with various diets because if they don’t get results straight away they get disheartened and think its too hard.
When you see people with six packs or really good bodies do you think its taken them 2 weeks to get like that? No it’s taken them years of hard work. We are all looking for that quick fix and not willing to put in the hard work. Getting fit and healthy can be more of a mental game than a physical one. Your focus needs to be on getting healthier not getting to s certain weight. Becoming healthier is going to allow you to live a fulfilled and happier life.
What is BMI?
BMI stands for Body Mass Index, it’s a physical measure of your body through your height and weight, guiding whether you fit into a ‘health weight range’. Though the BMI doesn’t differentiate between body mass and fat mass so it can become very inaccurate for people that attend the gym and complete any type of weight training. If you are new to weight training you really need to understand this concept that BMI is not the best measurement as you start to build more muscle mass. So don’t be disheartened if you step on those scales and the weight goes up slightly or even stays the same, if you are doing all the right things then your body is just adjusting and building more muscle mass.
Body Self Confidence
Look I know we all have our days where we may not like something about ourselves and we compare ourselves to other people. Trust me I have had those days but we cant make it a habit and if you find your self bringing your body down you need to say what you like about your body straight away, Change your mind pattern and repeat that to yourself 10 times. Repeat it out loud get your mind in a positive mindset rather than a negative one. We are our own worse critics and what you think about your body is exactly that, YOU are they only person that thinks that nobody else does. Don’t let you mind bully your body.
You are so much more than a number on a scale!
