How drinking water benefits your body…

Ask yourself ‘Am I drinking enough water today?’

Do you struggle to keep up with the daily recommended 2 litre water intake?

Do you find drinking water to be… well boring?

The best way to help increase your water each day is to have a big 1-2L bottle near you at all times, a lot of the time when we feel like we are hungry we are in fact thirsty, so if you’re feeling inexplicably hungry perhaps drink some water before hand to see how you truly feel.

If water just isn’t your thing, try adding some freshly squeezed (while you’re at it throw the wedge in there too) lemon or lime juice into your water to jazz it up a little, or if you’re feeling extra maybe some mint and cucumber?

Why is Water Important?

Water is such an important part of our body, it helps keep our muscles energised and juicy, keeping our electrolytes at optimal levels to maintain balance. Dehydration can lead to muscle weakness, loss of strength and control especially when competing in an endurance event or hitting a heavy workout in the gym. Keeping water intake up helps keep us awake and alert and able to perform at our best.

It helps to keep our synovial fluid (the lubricant which surrounds our joint capsules) up to par. Even a brief period of dehydration can decrease that protective barrier around our joints leaving the body prone to stiffness, pain and injury. Increased water, means increased joint longevity

Water makes recovery post activity happen a lot quicker. Dehydration can make muscular pain feel worse as toxins and waste aren’t adequately flushed out of the muscle. This is also extra important post massage, increased water intake helps your body’s response to the massage received, giving you a more effective result, with longer lasting benefits.

Dehydration can also lead to headaches, nausea and general tiredness. So, keeping up with that all importing crystal clear stuff is something we should all reach for daily, we are after all made up of 60% water.

So how much water have you drunk today?
